Humane Society of Boulder Valley Sphere® Events™ Helps the Humane Society of Boulder Valley Raise More Money
The Humane Society of Boulder Valley is a private, nonprofit organization whose mission is to protect and enhance the lives of companion animals by promoting healthy relationships between pets and people. The organization was founded over a century ago to protect those who do not have a voice and provides a diverse curriculum of programs and services to counter animal neglect and cruelty. The Humane Society of Boulder Valley offers refuge to more than 8,000 animals each year.
The Challenge:
- The Humane Society of Boulder Valley has held an annual Doggie Dash and Walk for 20 years.
- The process for managing registration and pledge collection was all performed manually.
- This process cost the organization a lot of time and money and was causing frustration among staff members at the Society.
- All communications to donors and supporters were completed via direct mail, and the organization wanted to begin email solicitation but had very few email addresses in the database.
The Solution:
- Friends Asking Friends® provided the organization with an events software solution that was easy to use for both administrators and participants.
- The Friends Asking Friends technology enabled Doggie Dash and Walk participants to create their own web pages with pictures of their beloved pets and send emails to solicit pledges from friends and family directly.
- The organization decided to require all participants to fill in the email field when they registered on the website, and began using the Blackbaud Sphere™ email tool.
The Results:
- During the first year of using Friends Asking Friends, the organization increased its donations by 48 percent over previous years when they were using the manual method.
- Year after year, the organization has increased participation and dollars raised by 65 percent.
- Participants love the website's ease of use and the ability to personalize their web pages with photos of their pets.
- The Humane Society of Boulder Valley now has more than 30,000 email addresses and has implemented successful email campaigns and eNewsletters.
